Life Update + Current Projects
Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while since my last blog post - life has been a bit hectic here in the Milgate house. My mum recently went back into hospital with some health issues. We're trying to be with her as much as possible, which means little time at home to blog/craft. Thankfully, she's doing much better now, but will remain in hospital for about another week. Once she's back home, I'll have many more opportunities to stamp and create some different projects for you all!
Note: sorry my photos aren't the best. I'm not a photographer, I'm a stamper! I also haven't properly stamped/inked for the better part of 6 years - I'm still finding my feet a little 😊
Recently, one of my dear friends announced that her and her long time partner are getting married in October. What made me even more excited, was that she asked me to design the wedding invitations! My daughter and I were discussing a few weeks ago whether to attend next year's bridal expo in our local area, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to dip my toe into the water of wedding invitations! They kindly requested beach themed invitations, as the ceremony is being held on a beautiful beach, so I did some research and sent them some ideas. They took a look over them and changed some elements to suit the look they were going for. I took their ideas/opinions on board and came up with the two stamped designs pictured below.
I absolutely love inking, so the look they were going for is right up my alley. I was lucky enough to interpret what they wanted in my first go! Other than my rusty stamping skills, there's nothing that I have to change. Neither of them were sure which one they liked better, so they consulted their children, who said they should use both for the invitations!
The only issue left to tackle is what cardstock to pair with the designs. When I unpacked my craft supplies, I was lucky enough to find some small swatches of Stampin' Up! cardstock that I made up a few years ago, which I used in the image above. I was leaning towards the browns, but my daughter wanted to include orange and blue. Feel free to comment your thoughts down below on what colours we should include 😊
From left to right: sahara sand, soft suede, early espresso, pumpkin pie, old olive, garden green, night of navy, island indigo.
After I have the finalised versions of the invitations, I'll make sure to post some tutorials for each design so you can recreate them and make them your own! Stamping/inking is so versatile - it can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. I encourage you all to try it, and I look forward to seeing your projects!
Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter! 🐰🐣🍫🍬
Love, Tan x
